We have a Rhodes Scholar in the House!

Our very own Veer Sangha is a 2023 Rhodes Scholar. If you have been keeping track, Veer has been busy - really busy - accepting awards this week for his hard work and creativity over the past 2 years. The Rhodes Scholarship announcement came a week after he was awarded the prestigious Elizabeth Barrett Connor Award at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in Chicago.

Among the first members of the lab, his constant presence has been instrumental in making us who we are as a group. He is brilliant, of course, but his greatest asset is being wise beyond his years. He is thoughtful and impact-oriented, which sets him apart from many in his stage who focus on short-term goals. His successes have been hard-earned in every respect possible.

In these 2 years, Veer has led important investigations into how we can adapt common health data streams to build screening tools for structural heart diseases, developing critical skills in informatics and healthcare data science. He built his portfolio by taking on progressively more complex challenges. During all this, he has demonstrated a great love for the work, which has been truly infectious, making others excited about working with him.

We will miss him when he is at Oxford next fall, but you can count on him to make an even bigger splash at Yale before he heads across the pond!
