Sudheesha Perera

Internal Medicine Resident

Sud is an Internal Medicine Resident at the Cardiovascular Data Science (CarDS) Lab, and a resident physician in the Yale Department of Internal Medicine.

Before Yale, Sud graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. After graduation he worked as a quantitative financial analyst at Bridgewater Associations, where he engineered trade generation platforms for the world’s largest global macroeconomic hedge fund. He then returned to Brown to pursue medicine, completing his MD as well as ScM in Population Medicine. Through his ScM he developed a novel computer vision tool to automate digitization of paper medical records in low-resource settings, which was deployed in community-based clinics along the Thailand-Myanmar border region to examine access to care amongst migrant and refugee communities. He also holds an MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where his research centered on disparities in cardiovascular outcomes among Asian American adults.

His current work leverages multi-modal clinical data to derive novel biomarkers of cardiovascular aging, with the goal of developing new approaches for risk stratification of cardiometabolic disease.
