Sarah A. Alaiwi

Cardiology Fellow

Sarah A. Alaiwi earned her medical degree with honors from the American University of Beirut. Following medical school, she pursued a postdoctoral research fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School, where her research focused on the epigenetic landscape of genitourinary cancers. Her contributions have been recognized with multiple first-author publications in Nature Communications, Cancer Cell, and Circulation, and she continues to serve as a reviewer and editorial board member for leading medical journals.

She completed her internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she also served as Chief Medical Resident at BWH- Faulkner Hospital. She has received multiple teaching and clinical excellence awards, including the Golden Stethoscope Award from Harvard Medical School for teaching medical students and the Dune award for her compassion and dedication to patient care as an intern.

Currently, as a third year cardiology fellow at Yale, her training is focused on advanced imaging and genetics with a special interest in inherited cardiomyopathies. Her research through the Yale CarDS Lab leverages machine learning and artificial intelligence to integrate genetics and imaging for improved risk stratification, outcome prediction, and personalized therapy in patients with cardiomyopathies.

Additionally, she is an active member of the Yale Women in Cardiology Group. She has been recognized as the Consultant of the Month by Yale’s Emergency Medicine Department, reflecting her dedication to patient care and medical education.
