Greg Holste

PhD Student

Greg is a PhD Candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is advised by Atlas Wang and co-advised by Rohan Khera. His research involves developing artificial intelligence (AI) methods to solve clinical decision-making and medical image analysis problems. He is a 2023 recipient of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and 2021 recipient of the UT Austin Tolbert Endowed Scholarship. His research has been published in journals such as JAMA Cardiology, European Heart Journal, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, Nature Communications, & npj Digital Medicine and presented at conferences including CVPR, ICML, ICCV, & MICCAI.

With the CarDS Lab, Greg has focused on AI-enabled automated echocardiography interpretation. He has led the development of deep learning methods to detect aortic stenosis on 2D echocardiography and is interested how multi-view, multi-task AI can serve as an assistive technology for complete echocardiogram reporting.
